Mission Statement

What we would love to achieve; how and why.

The Edventure Project CiC was created to fill the gap in South Gloucestershire's Home Education community by providing a nurturing, democratic and inclusive community environment (club) where children feel inspired to grow, play and learn. Our unique group, led by a team who are parents themselves, offers various workshops and activities that are specifically designed to encourage each child and young person's growth and also offer a solution to isolation and associated mental ill health such as loneliness, anxiety and depression. To give some balance and opportunities for well-being, education and adventure without huge expense. Some HE groups and settings charge £20-40 for just a couple of hours but we are and want to remain accessible. We hope to offer community spaces and/or subsidised fees, though grants and donations, to those families that need assistance - on an individual case by case need.

We aspire to facilitate passion based creative learning, skills development, and cater for each individual’s style and requirements. We will be looking in this first year 2022-23 to establish a culture of well-being, engagement and self-discovery, recognising that any community needs room to adapt and grow. This first year is focused on connection - building lasting and meaningful relationships with our tribe, their families and the local community around us. We appreciate all sponsorship and also organise and hold family friendly fundraisers.

The Edventure Project will immediately start operating as a self-contained democracy, and, as far as possible within the law of the land, the children and adults will each have an equal say in all matters pertaining to the rules and operations of the group, and will have an equal vote on all decisions. Circle time is often managed by one young person over seeing the discussion with support from a mentor.  Every member of The Edventure Project Community is invited to attend and is welcome to have their voice heard. Through these constant processes the seeds for the children’s capacity and relish for responsible, informed decision-making and problem-solving will be sewn.

Monday and Tuesdays: Regular learning activities (offerings) will be facilitated by our inspirational Mentors, with some visiting professionals, practitioners, and older children also offering masterclasses and workshops - Olas.Art for example with Graffiti or local music teacher Ellie with her violins. Each member of our mentoring team will have a broad cultural and intellectual awareness, whilst also possessing a specialist subject, and they will be agile and adaptable to the requirements of each member. They will understand that a activity exists to be experienced and learnt, not to be taught. They will be engaging, kind, fun and passionate, whilst being ambitious for each child. Crucially each responsible adult involved in the club must enjoy spending time with children and young people.

Each attendee will have an Individual Aspiration support plan that they work out between themselves and their Lead Mentor. This plan will describe the child’s intentions, aspirations and goals, and will plot a manageable journey for them to follow and where our clubs can support their home education journey for example with selective mutism, reducing anxiety and providing a safe space to make new friends. This plan will be referred back to at regular intervals and revised in accordance with the attendee’s progress. In this way the attendee owns and is accountable for their own time spent in the community. This is not to devolve responsibility away from the adults in their life, but rather to encourage self-discipline and responsibility, and to allow the team to run their activities in the most open and imaginative ways.

As a community project, we hope to involve the whole family in a holistic and supportive way. As health and wellness experts, from fitness to Sound Healing, we would like to eventually offer workshops for parents and carers to support mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
